Tetiana Shabanova

Shabanova Tatiana plays the piano from the age of four. She graduated Mariupol School of Music in piano in 1987. In 1993, graduated from Rostov State Conservatoire and was directed to Moscow for the post-graduate course. During the course participated in many classical concerts. In the process of learning classical piano, she studied jazz at the pop-jazz department of Kim Nazaretov.

Since 1993 Tatiana Shabanova is a teacher of piano and improvisation in music school for children in Mariupol, and since 1994 – a teacher at Mariupol music school for gifted children. Since 1995 - lecturer of musicology at PSTU (harmony and form in pop-jazz music, history of contemporary music, development of creative talents, supervision of students’ diploma works). 2000-2002 - head of dixieland at PSTU.

From the same 1993 - artist at the concerts of jazz and classical music. Participated in a large number of international festivals and contests, and nearly all jazz festivals in Ukraine (Kiev, Uzhgorod, Rivne, Simferopol, Yalta, Donetsk, etc.).

Now Tatiana Shabanova teaches the basics of improvisation and jazz arrangements, writes methodical work. Also writes arrangements for the choir, mixed jazz compositions, dixielands, jazz bands, classical orchestras, trios.

Recently she started to write a dissertation studying “Melodic improvisation as the principle of the subjective creative thought of the jazz musician”. Many of her students have won international musicaful competitions. Moreover Tatyana Shabanova is an author of a student book "Fundamentals of Improvisation" and a concertmaster of the highest category.
